PM Modi reviews progress of Rishikesh-Karnprayag New Railway Line

Dehradun: On Wednesday, through video conferencing, Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi under PRAGATI (Pro Active Governance and Timeliness Implementation), reviewed the progress of the Rishikesh-Karnprayag New Railway Line.

He appreciated the Chief Secretary for speeding up the formalities like land acquisition, forest clearance etc. This project will enable pilgrims to travel smoothly in less time. It will also develop cottage industries and other small scale industries in hill areas. People will also get employment opportunities.

Chief Secretary Mr. Utpal Kumar Singh apprised the Prime Minister that the work of the first package of this railway line to be constructed at a cost of Rs 16216 crores has started. In the first phase, 5.7 km Virbhadra-New Rishikesh railway line has to be developed. Yard, Under Bridge Road, Over Bridge Road and constructing bridge on Chandrabhaga River is underway.

This work will be completed by December 2018. Chief Secretary said that for the project, 790 hectare land is required. In this, 16 bridges, 17 tunnels, 12 railway stations are to be built. The work of package 7 of tunnel, the work of Geo Technical Testing is on. In the 125 km railway line, 105 km line will be through the tunnel.

Prime Minister asked all the Chief Secretaries to set goals for Bhim App, RuPay card in SLBC meetings. He instructed to accelerate wellness center and Saubhagaya Yojana also.

During the video conferencing Additional Chief Secretary Om Prakash, Ranvir Singh, Secretary Forest Arvind Singh Hayanki, Secretary R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Project Director of Rail Vikas Nigam Himanshu Badoni and other officials were present.


CM Trivendra to hear problems of common people on June 28

Chief Minister Mr. Trivendra Singh Rawat on Thursday, June 28, from 9.00 am onwards will meet the common people and will listen to their problems and complaints at Janta Milan Hall, CM Residence, New Cantt Road.
